Garage Facelift

Monday, December 29th, 2008

You are probably asking yourself why in the world do I need a facelift for my garage? After all it is just a garage! However what if you have a two car or more car garage? In that case the garage doors take up a substantial portion of the front of the house. What is the point in having a dazzling design for your home but with plain generic doors?

The trend in garage facelifts on many homes nowadays is to incorporate the overhead garage doors into the style and design of the rest of the house. For example you could select carriage – style doors that have the appearance that they open like old-fashioned swing out doors in carriage houses. However they open like normal garage doors that open upward in tracks that are go up underneath the ceiling. You do have the option of choosing wood or steel carriage doors. Many of the wood carriage doors are reminiscent of the horse-drawn carriage days and have become very popular.

Music Studio In A Garage

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

If music is your passion and you want to practice with your band, where can you go and not be a nuisance? Building a music studio in your garage may be the only pratical and available place that you can think of. However you must take your neighbors into consideration so that they will your garage not be disturbed while you are practicing. However this isn’t too difficult and the only solution to using your garage as a music studio is to soundproof it or build a small heavily insulated studio in one corner of the garage.

This does not need to be a major garage remodeling project. One option is to use two of the existing garage walls and build two new walls in between them. I’m no sound expert, but I have read that you should build these walls on an angle instead of perfectly perpendicular to improve the acoustics of the studio.

Security Cameras Can Provide Safety

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

Security cameras are installed by some home owners who want the idea of feeling safer in their home. They may have them have installed near their garage with them aimed down the driveway or toward the street. They may also possibly have another security camera over their front door entrance and for further peace of mind they may have another pointing toward the back or side door entrance to the home.

In many cases these security cameras are very basic and may do no more then simply record anything that happens in one or more fixed areas that are within view of the lens. While others may have a small upgrade that can also provide real time viewing via a monitor. For these homeowners the idea of having a security camera allows them home to feel at peace and safer simply by knowing that the cameras are installed.
